Whether your aquarium needs weekly, bi-monthly or monthly maintenance, or, service on an on-call basis; we can work out an aquarium management regimen that fits any schedule.
Depending on the needs of your particular aquarium system, our experienced technicians will perform the following tasks as well as any others that are necessary.
- Water chemistry testing – Maintaining proper water chemistry parameters is the hallmark of a successful aquarium. Water chemistry kept within the ideal range for the type of aquarium you have is the most reliable way to ensure the long term health of fish and other aquatic livestock also it hampers the growth of unsightly nuisance algae. We will test, evaluate and make corrections to water chemistry parameters during our visits. The results will be recorded to provide an accurate, ongoing picture of the health in the aquarium environment and recognize issues before they become problems.
- Partial water-changes – Performing partial water changes has been proven to be the single most effective way to ensure correct water chemistry and maintain a clean environment for livestock. They remove and dilute waste matter from the aquarium system which would otherwise collect to become more concentrated and more toxic. Partial water changes also introduces new clean water to the system, this serves to provide beneficial minerals and trace elements that normally become depleted over time.
- Substrate/gravel vacuuming – All of the detritus in an aquarium that is not removed by the filter ends up embedded and decomposing in the sand or gravel. Regular vacuuming is necessary to avoid the build-up of dissolved pollutants in the aquarium, ( these become a source of nutrients for problematic algae, it can also become toxic).
- Algae removal & control – For the most-part, algae in an aquarium is considered an unsightly nuisance. An important part of our maintenance program includes the removal of all the algae from the tank glass and decor.
- Filter cleaning – The filter is the heart of every aquarium system as it keeps the aquarium environment biologically stable, cleans the water and facilitates oxygen exchange. Keeping the filter clean and operating efficiently is of utmost importance to the life in the aquarium, it also keeps the tank, cosmetically clean. We will clean the filter and make sure that any expired media is replaced.
- Feeding – Our service technicians can target feed some of the more demanding livestock such as corals or anemones in addition to regular fish feeding, (through the use of programmable, automatic feeders), we can also provide all types of fish food.
- Equipment maintenance & repair – With regular maintenance, quality aquarium equipment will provide years of effective, trouble free operation. However, should a problem arise we can take care of repairs or deal with the manufacturer for warranty work. We carry many common replacement parts so repairs can often be carried out immediately.
- Dry side cleaning – The appeal of a beautifully maintained aquarium is enhanced by making sure that the outside of the aquarium is kept looking as good as the inside. Polishing the outside of the aquarium glass removes salt creep and mineral deposits, cleaning the glass, top and stand are all standard parts of our service.
- Additional services – Every aquarium system is different, so there is no cookie cutter maintenance regimen. We are able to custom tailor our aquarium service visits to the requirements of your aquarium.
